I made these for my beautiful little cousin for her 7th birthday! All the girls had a blast and I got to blush every time she told each individual friend that my cupcakes were the best! She is such a sweetheart! Happy Birthday Kelsie!
Chocolate Owl Cupcake Cake & Cupcakes

Ingredients
- Cake:
- 2 cups white sugar
- 1¾ cups all-purpose flour
- ½ cup unsweetened cocoa powder regular
- ¼ cup dark cocoa powder
- 1½ teaspoons baking soda
- 1½ teaspoons baking powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 eggs
- 1 cup milk
- ½ cup vegetable oil
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1 cup hot coffee
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. In a medium bowl, stir together the sugar, flour, cocoa, baking soda, baking powder and salt. Add the eggs, milk, oil and vanilla, mix for 3 minutes with an electric mixer. Stir in the hot coffee by hand. Place 24 cupcake liners in cupcake pan and fill ¾ with cake batter.
- Bake for 15-20 minutes in the preheated oven, until a toothpick inserted comes out clean. Cool for completely before frosting.
- To make the frosting.
- Cream butter and Crisco in a stand mixer until smooth and creamy. Add the powdered sugar ½ a cup at a time. Add vanilla extract. Mix on medium/high, once the mixture is blended, to whip to a creamy texture.
- Scoop out frosting into separate bowls and mix in desired colors to each bowl.
- Place on appropriate tipped bag and decorate as desired.
